Lia is currently attending Harvard Medical School and received her M.D. in June 2001.  She is currently completing a family medicine residency at Boston Medical Center.

Lia S. Pierson, Iowa Alpha '95, is a 
Tau Beta Pi Laureate for her diverse 
achievements as an athlete, musician, 
humanitarian, and student leader.


Rhodes Scholar

Lia Pierson was named one of 32 Rhodes Scholars in 1995.  She is ISU's fifth Rhodes Scholar and the third from the College of Engineering.

Athletics

Lia entered ISU on an athletic scholarship having won the 100-meter dash at the Drake Relays and the 200-meter dash at the Iowa high school state track meet.  During her 5 years (1990-1995) on the track team she excelled in several events including the 4 X 100 relay to the 800-meter run.  At the 1995 Big 8 indoor track meet in 1995, she placed second in the 800.  Selected to the All Big Eight women's track honor roll, she was twice recognized as her team's outstanding scholar-athlete for track and field.
