"SNOW BOWL"
This photograph of an early "snow bowl" is part of a series of five given to the University Archives by Simon W. Tarr. Shown is a contest between Coe College and Western College (in Toledo, Iowa) played on November 30, 1893 in Cedar Rapids.
Shown below is Simon W. Tarr, an 1898 Civil Engineering graduate from Iconium, Iowa. The caption on his yearbook photograph reads, "Simon Tarr is one of the best of our football men, and an excellent mathematician." Tarr lettered in football in 1897 and 1898, and captained the team in 1898.
