Ag Carnival
Ag Carnival, 1920
The agriculture students first held their own
celebration, the Ag Carnival, on May 16, 1912. The students designed the carnival to mimic the feel of an old fashioned
county fair in order to attract high school students and Iowa farmers. The carnival included open house exhibits and a parade with
representatives from each department in the Division of Agriculture. The event also contained a midway consisting of sideshows, refreshment
stands and a Ferris wheel. In the
evening, students held a vaudeville show.
